One evening we were sitting around with friends, indulging in an excellent home brewed Pinot Chardonnay. The conversation was lighthearted, fun, and full of laughter. As the night progressed our chatter turned to the topic of our love of making our own wine and beer. We lamented that there was no local Tampa brewing shop that offered the products or know-how to assist home brewers. Suddenly we realized that between us, there was 20 years of brewing experience and 30 years of retail experience standing in that kitchen. It hit us like a keg – let's open our own store here in Brandon! The next morning it still seemed like a good idea, and thus Bootleggers was born.

There are two unique features at Bootleggers:

1. Retail store. Buy your brewing equipment and ingredients and take them with you. Design, prepare, ferment, bottle, and enjoy your own handcrafted wine or beer right at home.

2. Brew on site with our classes and brewing parties. Whether you're a novice or experienced, a bride-to-be or a retiree, you will have a great time while learning a new skill. Our equipment, ingredients, facility, and expertise are at your disposal. We will train you on the complete process and you have the choice of returning to check on your brew as it progresses or simply coming to retrieve it when it's ready. We can also put a personalized label on it to commemorate the experience.
